In consultation with the guide/driver, we decide which route to take. At the end of the afternoon, we return to the tented camp where we enjoy a sundowner and a delicious 3-course dinner.
DAY 7: Serengeti – Ngorongoro conservation area

There is a big soda lake in the middle of the crater with many flamingos and pelicans. You have a chance of seeing many wild animals in the crater, even the threatened black rhino. No giraffes though, as their long legs are unable to carry them down the steep crater slopes. At the end of the afternoon, we travel to Mto wa Mbu via a beautiful green route. Here we stay at the Fanaka Resort with its new swimming pool. We enjoy a 3-course dinner in the restaurant to swap stories about our day.

We take a cultural tour of the village, its rice fields and banana plantations and visit a traditional bar to try some home brewed banana beer. This will give you an impression of how the locals live and we will then end up relaxing near the pool at the Fanaka Resort.
Mountain bike Excursion Maasai & Lake Manyara
We can also make an excursion from Mto wa Mbu on mountain bikes to a Maasai settlement. There will be traditional dancing by the Maasai women and the men will show us their tribal vertical jumps. We then cycle via Mto wa Mbu through the banana plantations to Lake Manyara, where we will see various antelope, hippos, flamingos and pelicans close up.
DAG 10: Transfer day Kilimanjaro – flight back home or inland flight to Zanzibar…
Depending on the time of your flight, you can relax at the pool or visit the art and craft stalls at Mto wa Mbu for some carvings or an African painting.
